I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2013. That means that I am embarking upon my 10 year cancerversary! It's hard to believe; it simultaneously feels like just yesterday and also a lifetime ago.
My diagnosis and my life with OTF are intertwined. See, I was diagnosed at 38 years old (for those who speak the lingo: Stage 3A, ER/PR+, Her2-). After a 1.5 year long process where I underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and reconstruction, I needed an outlet to regain my physical and spiritual strength. At the encouragement of friends (thank you Katie and Ellen!!), I tried out Orangetheory Fitness and I haven't looked back.
I started with OTF as a member in the Dunn Loring studio in 2016. I was set and determined to prove the doctors wrong; they said I may not ever lift more than 8 lbs with my right arm again. I'm proud to say that I have to visit the heavy weight bench in the back now thanks to OTF.
As I got stronger, I fell in love with the independence, strength and good vibes I gained through workouts at OTF. With the help of several coaches (thanks Kacie, Danielle and Madison!!), I decided to pursue certifications to become an OTF Coach. It is, to this day, one of the best decisions I've ever made. The first day of my dream job was the first day OTF-Main Street opened in August 2018!!
OTF-Main Street has been a staple in my life since then, providing me the emotional and physical support I've needed in my survivorship.
This is the third year for our OTF MS fundraiser for the National Breast Center Foundation. Last year, we raised nearly $10,000 to help women in our area who otherwise couldn’t afford testing and treatment for breast cancer to get those services. Let’s go ALL OUT this year and see if we can top that!

Join us for the 8th Annual Walk to Bust Cancer. We raise funds that go directly to help right here in our community. We help women, men and families by providing assistance with screening, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.
Funds raised support the efforts of the National Breast Center Foundation to help low income and the uninsured to obtain services, diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.

The need never goes away. Your donations allow us to continue this work every year providing help in the so many ways. Finding ways to improve patients health, lessen the financial roadblocks to obtaining desperately needed treatment. In addition, we are able to create cooperative relationships with the medical and research community. All this because of the your generosity.
