I have had the amazing experience of being on the staff of the Middle East Children's Alliance for 19 years! But I've been involved with MECA even longer, volunteering and attending wonderful public events.
I traveled with groups three times and I have seen the daily brutality of the occupation, the siege of Gaza, the displacement in East Jerusalem. I experienced the enormous hospitality of Palestinian families and heard stories of the lives of people who were driven out of their villages in 1948 and the stories of children who suffered terribly at the hands of Israeli authorities.
In Palestine and from here, I have also witnessed the remarkable work community groups do in meeting children's needs. teaching them, nurturing them, and encouraging them to face the difficult conditions of their lives.
I have learned so much from Palestinians, especially Palestinian refugees. I have laughed (and, yes, been laughed at), celebrated, and danced with them too. They have deepened my understanding and my commitment to justice for all people.
Please donate now to provide thousands of Palestinian children with everything from trauma intervention to sports teams; from libraries to video classes; from academic, legal, and psychological support to hip hop songwriting; and more.
Many thanks!
