My team is raising money for C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan - University Hospital. This establishment is especially close to my heart because I am currently one of it's patients. This past December - about 20 days short of my 21st birthday - I was diagnosed with Stage 2, Hodgkins Lymphoma. When I went to the ER one Friday having had chest pains when laying down or even breathing, doctors had discovered several large and small cancerous nodes surrounding my airways and heart. This kind of cancer is very common in people in their early to mid-twenties - aka college students. The symptoms are almost unnoticeable because they don't seem so bad: swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, lack of sleep, heightened sensitivity to alcohol, lack of appetite, weight loss for no apparent reason, itchy skin (sometimes appears like you have a rash), night sweats, etc. For months I honestly thought that I just had a bad cold, went on study abroad and came back with a skin rash from hostels due to my sensitive skin, and was like every other college student: TIRED. Though it is a bit ironic, I got lucky with Hodgkins Lymphoma since it has a 90% cure rate and I will be okay at the end of all of this. Not only do I want to raise awareness of this all too common disease, but I would like to recognize the heroes who truly do amazing work. The entire staff at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital have been and will continue to be some of the most hard-working, kind, amazing professionals in the entire world. They try their absolute best to create a comfortable and inspiring environment for all their patients - including myself - and do whatever they can in every way possible to do good for the a number of children fighting some of the toughest battles any person could ever go through. No donation is too small, and thank you for supporting these amazing people and children.

MSU Greek Week 2016

Every winter, a sorority and one large and small fraternity collaborate to form a Greek Week team. Each team then competes against one another in activities to raise money for specific charities. Teams spend a great deal of time practicing for the three main competitions, MTV night, Songfest, and Greek Field Events.

MTV Night and Songfest are all music and dance oriented competitions where members from each team showcase their skills and perform based on their chosen theme. MTV Night features the more skilled dancers and focuses on technique. Songfest is also a dance competition but less technical and lets more team members participate.

This year MSU Greek Life is proud to announce the addition of the Multicultural Greek Councils Annual MGC Showcase and the National Pan-Hellenic Council's Annual NPHC Step show to this years Greek Week events.

Greek Week is a major highlight for Greek life at Michigan State. Members make a positive impact on many different organizations.

This year each Greek Week Team has chosen a local charitable organization that they will be benefiting.

Through unifying events and activities the mission of MSU Greek Week is to celebrate the founding values of all Greek Letter Organizations: leadership, service, scholarship and friendship
