Navy '83 - BamaRama500
I enjoyed being a part of the Navy '83 Ride Across America in 2023. During and after the ride I had many people ask if I was bored during the many hours on the bicycle. I can honestly say I have never been bored when riding. Even if the scenery seems uninteresting to watch, the thrill of propelling myself down the road eliminates boredom. I started the ride needing to improve my strength and endurance. Every day I challenged myself to go farther and faster. I finished the ride in wonderful condition.
My favorite part of the country was through Yellowstone National Park and then on through Wyoming and western Nebraska. I grew up in Kansas (with a couple years in southern Montana) and the West is familiar to me. I have enjoyed reading the history of the frontier days and the area that rode through was full of the names familiar locations. We rode along the North Platte River: that river was so important in the 1800's, and earlier, to all that lived and traveled nearby.
My thanks to all that donated to NMCRS last year.
We now embark on our preparations for 2024: The BamaRama500 in October 2024. We again are riding for the camaraderie and see part of USA up close. And we are raising funds for veterans organizations.
Once again I will be promoting the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. You can help me to support active duty and retired Sailors and Marines in need of financial assistance. NMCRS has been assisting Sea Service families since 1904. They are ready to assist during natural disasters, family emergencies, pay problems and other unexpected expenses. Please help me to raise money to support Sea Service families in need.
