This June, I'm running the Covered Bridges Half Marathon with Team David's House to raise money for David's House, an amazing organization that is very close to my family's heart. David's House is the dream of a little boy named David Cyr who passed away at age five after a three-and-a-half-year struggle against acute lymphatic leukemia. Built so that families can remain together when it is most crucial, David's House provides a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. While my family was vacationing in New Hampshire in September of 1994, my mom went into labor two months early, and gave birth to me and my twin sister at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The hospital kindly welcomed my family at a time of unexpectedness. But, because we were preemie babies, Elizabeth and I had extended stays in the hospital to ensure that we developed healthily. During that six-week period, David's House provided wonderful care to my family. To say the least, David's House meant a lot to my mom, and I'm thrilled to be running for cause that means so much.
