About Promise Scholars Day at the University of La Verne - Serrano Middle School
Through a partnership with Promise Scholars 325 8th graders will be participating in a college visit at the University of La Verne. We will be providing them with a tour of the university, sharing experiences of First Generation college students and inviting them to explore the possibility of higher education.
We need volunteers to help with:
Welcome Wagon & tour guides
February 4, 2016 8:30am – 11:30am
We are seeking 16 individuals familiar with the University of La Verne to serve as tour guides. There will be 16 groups of approximately 20-25 8th graders with chaperones per group. We will hold a check-in and short training about the university tour from 8:30a.m.-9a.m.
Who volunteered?
First Generation college student panelists - Session 1
February 4, 2016 10:00am – 11:30am
We will be running three simultaneous panels on what it is like to be a First Generation college student. Each panel will have 4 current First Generation students who will share their experiences with a group of about 25-50 8th graders.
