About Project Sister Family Services-Volunteer Sexual Assault Counselor Program

Project Sister Family Services is looking for volunteers (who are required to go through a formal training starting on June 2nd). The organization serves as the local rape crisis center, which is located in the city of Pomona. Our Volunteer Sexual Assault Counselor Program would be a great volunteering experience for students who are seeking a career in the Psychology field or would simply like to give back to the community. As sexual assault counselors, students would have to take part in a 40 hour training which starts on June 2nd, 2016. The training focuses on how to best handle crisis intervention with the survivors of any kind of sexual assault. Throughout our training, we cover topics such as child sexual abuse, elder abuse, working with LGBTQ survivors and working with Law Enforcement, and much more. Once training has been completed, students sign up for hotline hours of their choosing in which they take crisis calls and help survivors with their immediate needs. They also provide support at hospitals, law enforcement agencies and at the court house. If any students would like to become a Volunteer Sexual Assault Counselor at our agency they can follow the following steps listed in the application process of this page.
