For all their magic, the early years of childhood provide some of the most stressful of human experiences for parents. However, few parents have access to a community support network that provides them with role models of positive parenting skills, child development information, group-play for their children and quality short-term childcare.
Celebrating 38 years in the Concord community, The Children's Place and Parent Education Center (TCP) is the only family resource center in the area. We provide short term child care in a developmentally appropriate and enriching environment with professional staff who nurture children and often parents, too. TCP is a donation and grant funded center, that relies heavily on community support to keep it's doors open.
Many of our families are low income and can't afford our already low rates for childcare and programs. Establishing a scholarship fund will ensure that no child will have to go without the the enrichment that TCP provides and no parent has to feel like they are alone.
Our teachers provide a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, experiences, and materials that are selected to engage children in active, meaningful learning and to achieve the following goals:
- Create an environment that is conducive to role-modeling positive family interactions and supports positive adult-child interactions
- Foster positive self-image and a sense of emotional well-being
- Develop social skills
- Encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment
- Encourage language (speaking and listening) and literacy development (emergent reading and writing awareness)
- Enhance physical development
- Encourage creative expression and representation
- Respect cultural diversity and the importance of families
TCP also hosts a variety of classes including Toddler Play Group, Infant Massage, Babies and Parents Group and Music and Movement, as well as services like date night daycare and birthday parties.
The Mission of The Children’s Place is to enhance and strengthen families by offering support services, childcare and group play, parent education, and community outreach programs. We are a group of parents, children, and professionals who come together to articulate to the community respect for and understanding of, children, as well as the importance of parenting.

Here's a testimonial from one of our families:
"We began bringing our grandson just for an opportunity to play with other children, but to our surprise, the staff have been amazing in helping him develop his social skills and speaking skills. He loves coming here and looks forward to seeing his teachers at TCP. We wholeheartedly support this facility as a necessary opportunity for our city's children."
Please help us build a scholarship fund so that all children, no matter their financial situation, can experience the support we provide.
