About Wildlife Rehabilitation
SWR is seeking volunteers who would like to learn basic wildlife rehabilitation by raising orphan gray squirrels. Gray Squirrels are a perfect starter species, and how we began. Many volunteers continue with gray squirrels or gain expereince and select another native species to rehabilitate. This is a seasonal opportunity and takes about 4 months to raise a squirrel depending on the age of orphan, This outshelter experience gives volunteers an opportunity to learn basic methods, raising a pair healthy squirrels and releasing back into the wild. Other volunteer opportunities include wildlife capture or wildlife transport, enclosure cleaning, trail clearing, construction projects, offsite educational program assistance.
