St. Dominic Community Health Clinic was established in 1996 to provide primary and preventative health care free-of-charge to the medically uninsured, homeless and working poor of the Jackson area. Each day, the clinic sees an average of 40 patients who cannot afford basic medical care.

Under the direction of nurse practitioner Sister Mary Trinita Eddington, OP, the clinic’s purpose is to lead members of the community to make healthier lifestyle choices. Patients are welcomed with no appointment necessary. Primary health care services offered include: routine checkups, treatment of acute illnesses, sports or employment physicals, eye exams by an ophthalmologist, limited chronic care, nutritional counseling and lab testing. The clinic also offers scheduling of lab, x-ray or other diagnostic services and referrals for specialty care and social services. Assistance with prescriptions, supplies and equipment is also available.
In addition to primary health care services, the clinic provides a variety of educational programs for children, adolescents and adults in an effort to promote disease prevention and safety among this segment of the population.

The clinic is staffed by a consultative family practice physician, a full-time family nurse practitioner, a medical assistant, counselor, security officer and volunteer nurses and physicians.
