Position Title: LEAD Garden/Grounds Volunteer

Task Description/Specific Duties:
Help maintain the Pollinator Garden, rain garden and natural grounds through weeding, plants, transplanting, dividing and layout design
Coordinate the scheduling of garden volunteers via phone calls and e-mail
Assist in the recruiting of garden volunteers
Coordinate spring and fall work days
Help produce identification signs for Pollinator Garden plants and various other educational pieces
Miscellaneous duties as requested
Days and Times Needed: Flexible schedule of 2 hours/week April-October during the Sanctuary’s normal hours of operation: Monday-Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm.
Longevity/Duration of Position: Ongoing during the months of April – October
Qualifications/Skills:
Interest in native plants, basic gardening practices and work outdoors
Possess minimal plant identification skills and/or interest and willingness to learn them
Ability to perform moderate physical activities, such as bending, kneeling and weeding by hand
Capable of using basic garden tools including shovels, hand trowels, rakes and wheelbarrows
Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions for up to three hours at a time
Trained Master Gardener desirable
Orientation and Training: Training is provided on the job

appreciative staff members.
