About i.am College Track
College Track is a national non-profit organization that empowers students to achieve their dream of a college education. They are seeking tutors to help their organization continue to increase high school graduation rates, college enrollment, and college graduation rates among students from low-income communities. Below is some general information regarding training, responsibilities, requirements, and tutoring schedule.
Requirements
-Ability to support High School A-G courses
-Familiarity with effective Study Skills strategies
-Experience working with and understanding issues related to racial, ethnic, class, and gender equity
-Clear criminal record check
-TB test results
Training
-College Track will provide comprehensive training and ongoing support for tutors through various methods such as e-mail updates
Responsibilities
-Tutor for a minimum of one hour and consistent times/days each week for fall semester (Sept-Dec 2014) or spring semester (Jan-May 2015)
-Abide by College Track's "Tutoring Program Expectations"
-Attend the bi-annual tutor training sessions prior to the start of the fall/spring semesters
-Attend quarterly tutor meetings with the Academic Affairs Director
-Conduct small group tutoring sessions and one-on-one sessions
-Assist in creating a safe environment
-Collaborate with other tutors to create a productive learning environment
-Refer to the Site Director or Academic Affairs Director with issues relation to student's academic, personal and/or behavioral performance
-Monitor assigned students and report concerns
-Submit to fingerprint and TB test results
Schedule (may fluctuate)
-Monday-Thursday 3:45-6:30pm
-Fridays 3:45-5:00pm
