About Social Call Program (Evening/Weekend Visitation)
We are coming up with new ideas every day! Recently, we have developed a pilot program through which our volunteers visit with our clients in an effort to alleviate social isolation. This program was inspired by a survey through which 32% of our clients reported to us that our volunteers are the only people they see on an average day. We believe that food insecurity is a product of social isolation. We want to support our clients as they pursue their lives at home, but we want to do more than deliver food. Our intention is for clients and volunteers to engage in conversation and social activities such as game play, movie/TV watching, book reading/discussion, etc. We hope that, together, we can build meaningful relationships with each other and combat food insecurity.
