About Volunteer at BirdFest & Bluegrass 2018!

BirdFest & Bluegrass 2018, the Friends of Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge’s main annual event, celebrating not only the return of the Sandhill Crane to the Refuge for the winter, but also everything that a wildlife refuge is about. With events going on from Friday evening, October 5th, through Sunday afternoon, October 7th- there is something for everyone! Some events require pre-registration and/or payment, please read descriptions carefully, and sign up early! This year, the Friends will have a scavenger hunt that you can pick up at our booth in Overlook Park! Bluegrass pickers will be located around town jamming throughout the day. There will be music workshops, birding workshops, photography workshops, painting workshops, geology hikes, ethnobotany hikes, PNW Plant walks, family birding, Audubon Wild Birds Live!, Zoo Zap Teens, a Birders Marketplace full of awesome vendors providing local art and items from local businesses. Food, kids crafts, music and more!

We are looking for hands to help, any time all weekend long! We need help with set-up and take-down, information booths, and activity support. You choose when and for how long, every little bit helps! Set-up and take-down can be a little physical, but the rest of the work can be as easy or as hard as you choose, dress for the weather and to have fun!
