Altenheim Day 2017 Grand Procession
Hosted by: EdenHill Communities
About Altenheim Day 2017 Grand Procession
Altenheim is German for "a place for seniors." It was our colloquial name 100 years ago during our formative years as the Protestant Home for the Aged in San Antonio (1910-1933). Our Altenheim Fest was routinely held up through mid-century when our name changed to Eden Home (1933-2009). These were festive occasions involving the church communities and families who nurtured and cared about the seniors in our care. In 2016, we brought this concept back with Altenheim Day. One feature of the event was a 1.2 mile procession that led to our chapel. If you are a family or community group that has an affinity with EdenHill, will you please consider joining us for our next Altenheim Day 2017 procession? The theme is 1910 farm family bringing farm goods to the EdenHill pantry, so period vehicles and horse-drawn wagons will rule the day. Period dress and props, too. We will celebrate with fellowship, food, and music when the procession ends. It's a fun, family-friendly event with the goal of raising community awareness about seniors, and about senior care. If your family and/or your affinity group cares about senior fitness and wellness, or our seniors in general, come join us!
