I’ll never forget the night I met Jetstar.
Jetstar arrived around midnight on April 29th, 2015. He was emaciated. A big, white, filthy, bag of bones. He had been sent through a high risk auction
and was marked for slaughter.
Draft Gratitude gave him his
second chance.
His age, size, health, or
temperament were not even considered.
What mattered was saving his life.
It took the better part
of a year to rehabilitate Jetstar. He
was timid, difficult to handle, had chronic diarrhea, and was in horrific
shape. We tried numerous feeding
programs until we found what worked. He
was vaccinated, his hooves were trimmed correctly, and his teeth were
floated. He also had a few desperately
needed baths!
Today, Jetstar is a handsome, chunky, Percheron gelding. He is in his late 20’s and is probably healthier than he has been in a very long time. He is a pleasure to be around, and has a sweet and curious personality.
But we can’t do it alone.
Your gift of $12, $35, $50, or more enables us to save and care for unwanted draft horses.
Working farm horses deserve a safe retirement too. Won’t you help us help them?
ps. Your gift will help us save more draft horses like Jetstar. Please send your gift today so we are ready when the next call comes in.
