About Volunteering with The Broome County Humane Society!

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please visit our shelter so you can see how we need help and the environment that you’ll be working in.
We spend many hours a month orienting new volunteers, and only a few people return after their first day. It’s physical work and you will get dirty! We need people that will be able to provide help on a regular basis so that the time we spend with new people will ultimately be returned to the animals with long-term help.
Some examples of the help needed are:
✔Help with the cats – cleaning, socializing, photographing, washing dishes/litter boxes
✔Help with the dogs (if over 18) – walking (with 2-hour training class and weekly commitment of 2 hours), cleaning, washing dishes
✔General housekeeping – cleaning the bathing tub, mopping, washing windows, painting, etc.
✔Handyman help
✔Fundraising Event help
If you want to get involved, come on down to The Humane Society during our open hours of 12-5pm Tuesday thru Friday and 11-4pm Saturday to check us out and fill out a volunteer application.
