About Volunteer at the Elevating Youth Voices Fair
Volunteer to help at the Elevating Youth Voices Nonprofit Fair, a free community event on Saturday, June 1 at the Columbia College Conaway Center located in the South Loop.
At the Elevating Youth Voices Fair youth leaders from across Metropolitan Chicago will share how they are taking the lead to make a positive impact in their communities.
Volunteers will work 1.5 - 2 hour shifts in their designated role, and will be able to enjoy and explore the Fair before and after their volunteer shift. All volunteers will recieve training the morning of the event. Lunch, snack, and an event t-shirt will be provided to all volunteers at no cost.
Event Timeline for Volunteers:
- 10:00 – 10:30a – Volunteer check-in
- 10:30 - 11:00a – Volunteer orientation and training
- 11:00 – 11:45a – Fellowship luncheon: Before the Fair opens to the public, all youth representatives and event volunteers will share a meal together, providing an opportunity to get to know each other.
- 12:00 - 3:00p – Fair opens to the public: In addition to presenting at their booth, each group of youth representatives will be invited to take the stage to present to the entire fair how they are leading change in their communities.
- 3:00 – 3:30p – Reception for volunteers and youth: Dessert and punch will be served to volunteers and youth participants to celebrate new friendships and a job well done.
- 3:30 – 4:00p – Break down and clean up
Elevating Youth Voices Nonprofit Volunteer Job Descriptions: (Note – Multiple volunteers will be assigned to each role)
• Check-In Table – Help welcome attendees, pass out programs, answer questions
• Exhibition Areas – Help youth set up displays, support youth leaders throughout the day, help remind youth when it is their turn to present on the Main Stage
• Craft & Activities Area – Help lead a community craft project, take pictures at photo booth
• Main Stage Area – Help youth performers on and off stage, work with MC and A/V technician to make sure we are running on schedule, help cheer for youth performers
• Hospitality Tables – Make sure food and beverage items are stocked and tidy, help serve snacks to youth and fair attendees
