ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
A strong mind is nothing without the right environment to cultivate it and the proper tools to maximize its potential. At OC, future multi-linguists participate in one or more of our five outstanding foreign language programs. Tomorrow’s engineers, surgeons, and biomedical researchers perform labs in one of our five state-of-the-art science labs. The next generation of computer scientists learn to integrate technology into all facets of their learning via a 1:1 laptop program. Aspiring novelists refine their craft in extraordinary English courses. Currently unknown artists work toward recognition as they hone their musical ability and explore different mediums of artistic expression. At Oakland Catholic High School, each student has the opportunity to recognize and realize her unique potential.
NURTURING ATMOSPHERE
Spirituality, Scholarship, and Service are interwoven aspects of the educational process. Inclusiveness and compassion drive all members of the community. Faculty exhibit enthusiasm for the subject matter being taught, setting high standards for the entire class, but never lose sight of the needs of an individual student. Our young women use their intellect to tutor younger students via service in the Maria Goretti program or with the Boys & Girls Club of Western PA. Religious instruction is part of the academic program but also serves as a catalyst for specific service projects. The Offices of Campus Ministry and Mission Integration offer opportunities for motivated students to use their intellect to acknowledge the needs of others and put that awareness into action for social justice.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT OC
Young women from Western Pennsylvania and all over the world choose Oakland Catholic High School for a world-class education. With a mission to develop the next generation of female leaders, who are both globally aware and competent, Oakland Catholic High School provides an educational experience that forms students in the pillars of Spirituality, Scholarship, and Service. Global awareness and global competence are developed in all students through educational experiences offered inside and outside the classroom. We are proud to welcome so many international students to our community and work hard to make sure that they know how much they are valued. Students from different regions and different parts of the world come together at Oakland Catholic High School to share perspectives, increase knowledge, and become friends.
