The SOUND of USD Marching Band, USD Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble I are going to New Orleans February 8-14, 2024 to march in the Krewe of Endymion and Krewe of Orpheus parades in celebration of Mardi Gras!
Touted as the greatest block party on earth, the Krewe of Endymion is host to “Samedi Gras,” the parade line-up where 30,000+ revelers from Mid-City neighborhoods help kick off Endymion. As if this start wasn’t enough, the parade draws crowds in excess of a million people, often 25-35 deep on either side of the street. And there is more… Endymion is the only parade with an after-party, the Endymion Extravaganza, inside the New Orleans Superdome attracting crowds over 20,000, all in formal attire. 2024 will see the Endymion Extravaganza moved to the New Orleans Convention Center due to renovations on the Superdome, but the party will still feature numerous Grammy-Winning artists as entertainment headlined this year by Sting! As it does in the Superdome, the parade will enter and roll through the Convention Center, and The SOUND of USD will march through all described here and more!
