Student Cuba Trip 2024

A fundraising campaign for New Roots Charter School

Help us send our Spanish II & III students on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Cuba where they will deepen their perspective as global citizens.

New Roots Students in Spanish II and Spanish III will be embarking on an 8-day adventure to Cuba to experience the Spanish language and culture on a deeper level.  All activities planned are purposefully connected to the New Roots mission and vision.

Students will be immersed in the beautiful landscapes and architecture of Cuba. Together, they'll explore the heart of Cuba's culture, enjoying its cuisine and dancing to the music and rhythms of the region. The rich traditions and dynamic history of Cuba will unfold before them, creating a truly immersive experience.

Their journey will take them to four UNESCO World Heritage sites, ranging from the vibrant streets of Havana to the serene Viñales Valley, the charming and lively Trinidad township, and the exquisite jewel of the Caribbean, Cienfuegos.

Throughout this adventure, the tour is designed to actively support the independence of the Cuban people. Students will engage with local artisans, support local farmers through purchases, experience the warmth of Cuban hospitality by lodging in private bed & breakfasts, and dine in family-run restaurants. It's not just a trip; it's a meaningful exploration that contributes to the sustainable growth of the Cuban community.
