  • Join us in striding together to raise awareness and support survivors as we kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month. YWCA NorthEastern NY's "Strides for Strength" invites you to step up and make a difference. Whether you walk, run, or donate, your participation helps support YWCA NENY's vital and life-saving domestic violence support services.

Take the first step by registering for the walk and starting your own peer-to-peer donation campaign. Engage your friends, family, and colleagues in a cause that you know impacts so many members of our community. Every dollar raised empowers survivors and promotes healing in our community. Prizes will be awarded to our top 5 fundraisers! Together, let's take strides for strength and end domestic violence. Register and donate today!

    • Raise $150 with your network and get a Strides for Strength t-shirt while supplies last!
    • The top five fundraisers will receive fun prizes!
    • Children under 12 walk for FREE!

Day of the Event

Sporting all of your purple attire, Strides for Strength is scheduled for September 28th. We'll convene at the West Lot entrance to the bike path at SUNY Schenectady County Community College - Historic Island Park Stadium on SUNY SCCC Campus (Adjacent to the Mohawk Hudson Bikeway Trail Access Point at SUNY SCCC & the MVP Health Care Fitness Court®).

To symbolize the 1 in 4 individuals in the US who experience physical violence from an intimate partner, we'll walk a minimum of 1.4 miles, equivalent to roughly 5.5 laps around the track. Interested in extending the distance? Additional options for walking or running will be provided

Registration kicks off at 9 AM, followed by a brief program at 10 AM before we embark on the walk. Join us for food, informative tables, vendors, kids activities, and plenty of fun throughout the event!

This event is family-friendly, we ask that children aged 12-18 register at the reduced rate. Children under 12 can attend with their parents free of charge. We also welcome leashed, friendly dogs to attend and walk!
