Have you ever had to spend a night without a bed?
If you’re lucky, the answer is no. But Family Promise has sheltered families previously sleeping in cars, park pavilions, abandoned houses, and doubled up with other families. There are far too many children and parents who sleep without a bed.
You can help Family Promise expand its homeless shelter to help those families. Right now.
Spend a night without a bed on May 6—in your car, on your sofa, on your floor, in your tent in your yard--to remember those who can't choose to. Have fun and be creative while helping those in need. Consider organizing a group sleepout at your church or with friends!
Donate to your congregation or company team, or form a fundraising team of your own. Ask your friends and family to make a gift to the effort. Every gift--$10 to $1,000--will help. Share your night with #NightWithoutABed on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media.
On Saturday, May 6, we'll have a T-shirt giveaway for all those participating at University United Methodist Church parking lot (5959 Grandview Ave., Indy, IN 46260) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Come meet some of the families past support has helped!
Night Without a Bed will support so many children who deserve a home, and their parents who want the chance to provide it. We hope to "see" you Saturday, May 6.
#NightWithoutABed is the primary fundraising campaign to support Family Promise's Apartment Shelter Program--a model birthed in Indianapolis in the pandemic that now has spread to at least twenty other cities. The goal will increase by $15,000 every time it is reached because that covers the cost for one 12-month lease on an apartment, plus security deposit, utilities, Internet, insurance, and some repairs. The shelter programs have a housing rate of more than 73%, and a housing retention rate of 82% (two years).
