Nursing students stepped up during the COVID pandemic and worked long, taxing hours alongside registered nurses when we were in crisis. Each of us has experienced the quick thinking, care, and compassion of a good nurse at least once in our lives. Joanne was that nurse for so many Staten Islanders. Joanne M. Galfo D'Amato, RN was a proud graduate of the first Nursing Class from the former Staten Island Community College in 1967. She was happy to work most of her nursing career at Doctors' Hospital, Concord. Some of her patients and their families still share stories of the excellent care they received in her hands.
Celebrate our parents' legacy by making a donation to the Joanne D'Amato, RN and Frank D'Amato Nursing Memorial Scholarship. Be a supporter of our FIRST ONLINE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER! As a relative, friend, loyal supporter, or alum, we thought you'd be excited to learn that the first $1,000 in gifts was matched! Help us go even further now to reach our goal and make a difference for our nursing students.
We are proud that this is the 13th year that the D’Amato Nursing Memorial
Scholarship has been awarded. This year's CSI nursing
student is Cam Phuong Ly. Each time you give a gift, you achieve two wonderful things: you help
the nursing student’s tuition become more manageable and you promote the legacy
of a beautiful couple who were near and dear to many of us.
