OUR STORY:

The CKM evolved in March of 2015. The Nelson's advocacy began after hearing several bullying stories that were shared from telling their own child's story and how they chose Kindness to help their child. They sent twenty-six single yellow roses into their child's school anonymously, hoping that the Act of Kindness would inspire a Change of Heart in those studentsThe acts of kindness worked, the bullying diminished. During the summer of 2015, the Nelson's family dedicated their summer to performing acts of kindness and delivering yellow roses throughout the community as a service project. Their acts of kindness inspired a celebrated Community Kindness Week proclaimed by the City of Pocatello and Chubbuck,Idaho. Thousands of bright yellow Kindness T-shirts were funded to 8,000+ students in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District. Their efforts continued to spread to many other schools with the help of the Idaho PTA Congress and that's how the Nelson family began their advocacy that "KINDNESS is the powerful answer to Bullying Prevention."

We should never underestimate the power that each of us hold as ONE PERSON that can save the life of another.

All it takes is a simple act of Kindness.  #TheCKM

KINDNESS PROGRAM:

  • COMMUNITY KINDNESS WEEK  - September 17th - 23rd, 2018

In 2018, Mayor Tammy De Weerd with the City of Meridian, Idaho, will be proclaiming a Community Kindness Week and partnering with the CKM. Pocatello and Chubbuck Mayors proclaimed a Kindness Week in 2015 and continue to celebrate. We are excited for the community involvement. We plan to fund many schools within the State of Idaho.

  • MONTHLY KINDNESS DAY  - Celebrated every third (3rd) Thursday of the month.

Each monthly Kindness Day has a planned theme and lesson plan for teachers. The students and staff are encouraged to wear their Kindness t-shirts every Thursday throughout the school year, which builds a habit in wearing them.

  • KINDNESS T-SHIRTS

Our Kindness T-shirt is one of the most important visual learning tools used in the CKM Annual School ProgramThe Kindness t-shirts are distributed during Kindness Week and worn every Thursday throughout the school year.  The yellow Kindness T-shirts are funded for every student in the school. The t-shirt inspires unity and builds camaraderie.

  • NEW 2018 KINDNESS VIDEO - Stars local kids ages K-12

Our Community Kindness Week is launched with our locally produced Kindness Video that stars local Idaho students ranging from K-12. The video will be shown in to several schools throughout Idaho. The video ties in with an Acts of Kindness Daily Challenge for week. The video helps explain why we are celebrating kindness and gives examples of how they can get involved.
