Giving Tuesday at CommunityHealth
The holiday season is just around the corner and so is colder weather. Help us support asylum seekers experiencing housing insecurity during the winter this Giving Tuesday!
CommunityHealth, founded in 1993, is the one of the largest volunteer-based free clinics in the nation. We deliver integrated, high-quality, customized care at no charge to low-income, uninsured adults in need of a medical home. We provide primary care, over 20 specialty cares, dental care, prescription medications, lab testing, mental health services, and health education classes at no charge. This is critical for preventing and controlling chronic illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure, and it helps keep the uninsured from flooding the emergency room with non-emergency issues.
CommunityHealth celebrated 30 Years of Care throughout 2023. And even in our 30th year, we continue to innovate as demonstrated with our deployment of mobile care units to provide free health care to asylum seekers at police precincts. Our free clinic offered point-of-care testing, wound treatment, resource mapping, and more to families awaiting immigration at the precincts. Most importantly, we registered migrants as new patients with our clinic for follow up, quality care, expanding our patient reach by over 40%.
With more than 20,000 people seeking asylum in Chicago and numbers increasing as the weather drops, CommunityHealth turns every $1 donated into $7 worth of services and medications for our new neighbors. Help us welcome the recent arrivals to our city with dignity, integrity, and compassion this Giving Tuesday by donating today!
