TaskForce is a grassroots organization committed to improving the sexual health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ youth of color in Chicago living in systematically disenfranchised communities with limited resources by providing a safe space for fellowship, HIV/STI screening and education, and on-site referrals to medical, housing, and other social services. We are dedicated to making a difference by working towards solutions in partnership with our community in order to improve our overall quality of life.
Check out some of our highlights below:
We provided more than 930 fresh produce bags to local community members in the Austin and West Garfield Park neighborhoods. There are food deserts that still exist in certain areas in these neighborhoods. Increasing access to healthy food options and mitigating food insecurities is an essential supportive service!
We also provided 741 bags of dry food goods to community members!
Our team and collaborators at partner agencies are working diligently to make sure that transgender and gender nonconforming individuals are able to become gainfully employed. Our work not only involves professional development training for community members, but it also involves us advocating for places of employment to be more inclusive in their hiring processes and that they foster a supportive work environment.
We partnered with CDPH, Rush Medical and UI Health to educate and vaccinate community members against Mpox. Because of this important partnership, we were able to connect 933 individuals to Mpox vaccines.
We also connected 223 community members to LGBTQ+ affirming medical care!
From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank everyone that supports our work and mission. We can not do what we do without it!
