Friends of Cody Mullens are starting a forestry scholarship in his memory. Cody was known for his kind heart and helping hands. Just as Cody was always willing to help others, this scholarship will support Glenville State students who are pursing a degree in forestry.
Cody J. Mullens, 28, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, while fighting a forest fire on Armstrong Creek, near Montgomery. He was the son of John Dayton and Debra Lynn Barnette Mullens of Calvin and was born at Summersville October 6, 1994.
Cody was a forester and employee of the WV Division of Forestry. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, Transformers, and reading. He was a 2019 Glenville State graduate and past president of the Glenville Science Fiction Guild. Most of all, Cody loved his family, friends, job, and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Delano Barnette and Alva Mullens. Surviving in addition to his parents are: companion, Brittany Leann Ferguson; daughter, Hazel Grace Ferguson; sister, Emily Rose (Jacob); grandmother, Iris Mullens; and four uncles and two aunts.
