For 60 years, Ardmore has envisioned a world where each person, regardless of level of ability, can determine the direction of his or her own life and can therefore choose and travel his or her own path.
As we reflect on our Journey Through Time, we are proud to say that today, 60 years after our inception, there are significantly more people with IDD living the life they choose for themselves in our communities.
Ardmore's role has always been to provide support in a safe environment while empowering people to acquire the skills to make responsible choices, enjoy maximum self-sufficiency, and experience full community participation. We are proud that we can be a part of each of their stories, just as they are a part of ours.
It's been 60 years, six decades, and we are seeing what an inclusive community looks like, and truly understand what it is to be in community together. It means that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are fully included and accepted in their chosen community(s) - in schools, neighborhoods, jobs, recreation, and congregations, and have opportunities to contribute their unique personalities and talents to others, occupy valued roles in community life.
We hope you will join us in our journey, in partnership with the people we support. We could not have reached this momentous milestone without your support, so I want to personally thank each of you for living out the vision of Ardmore in our community. I hope you are as excited as I am to see what the next 60 years has in store.
Thank you for being In Community Together with us to make full inclusion in the community a reality for all people.
We are all a part of the journey.
