John (pictured here), was born with Leber congenital amaurosis, a rare, inherited eye disorder that causes severe vision loss. At some point, he will likely become completely blind.

But since starting early intervention and therapy with Beyond Blindness at 7 months old, some uncertainties from John’s diagnosis have eased and his mom, Andrea, sees new possibilities for his future.

Since transitioning to a classroom at Beyond Blindness, John has learned sign language, started tummy time, discovered music and crafts, and made friends. These milestones have given Andrea hope. She shares:

“He moves so much more than he did before and is full of curiosity. He used to just lie still.  I believe that if it wasn’t for Beyond Blindness, John probably would not be as confident as he is now.”
