Lock Haven Health Science Mission to Jamaica

A fundraising campaign for Lock Haven University

In 2015, Lock Haven health science students began making annual trips to Jamaica with faculty, initiating dental care outreach to local children. Because of covid, students have not returned since 2019. In January, they will return for the first time in years.

Our students need your help.

We partner with a non-profit that, for the past 30 years, has facilitated travel to the Jamaican community of Harmons. Their presence there provides our team with transportation and accommodations to offer a successful program, however, we must provide students with the healthcare supplies to perform our service-driven mission.

How can you make a difference?

Support our Service Learning Program oral-health initiative by making a donation today. Your gift will supply toothbrushes, toothpaste and fluoride varnish to more than 300 children, while granting more than 20 students an opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on healthcare experience with underserved children in need

Help us hit the goal!

All money raised in this campaign goes to purchasing the supplies needed for our trip. Our goal is $1,500. Every donation, no matter the amount, has an impact. Together we are stronger. Make your donation today, and thank you for your support.

*Note: Students will continue making this annual trip to Jamaica in 2023 and beyond. If you wish to make a large donation to support this initiative beyond this year's trip, please contact the Lock Haven University Foundation at 570-484-2586.
